THE GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER CLUB VIC INC
The German Shorthaired Pointer Club Victoria, In corporated was founded in 1965. It is associated with the Victorian Canine Association www.vca.org.au. The Club has a mix of members, ranging from serious shooters to loving pet owners.
The Club runs various events throughout the year, including Field and Retrieving Trials, Shows and Obedience Trials.
Day to day running of the Club is the responsibility of the elected Committee members who are always available to assist members where possible.
The German Shorthaired Pointer, or Shorthair as they are more commonly known, is one of the most versatile of the gundog breeds. Whether you are looking for a serious hunting partner or a loyal companion, the Shorthair will adapt to almost any lifestyle.
Currently Shorthairs are competing in a variety of events: Field Trials, Retrieving Trials, Obedience, Agility, Flyball, Tracking,Endurance Tests and Conformation Showing . Victorian dogs are also working as detector dogs with AQIS.
To encourage members in their endeavours, annual awards are available as well as memento trophies for each title a dog gains. These are presented at the Annual General Meeting, which all members are encouraged to attend.
The Club produces a monthly newsletter which keeps members up to date with what is going on in the world of the German Shorthaired Pointer.
